Fixed coupon
A stated interest rate applied to the contractual principal basis of fixed-rate debt.
Why the distinction matters
Coupon differs from issue yield and effective borrowing cost. A fixed-rate coupon cannot be ranked directly against a floating spread over a benchmark.
