Middle East and Africa: capital and digital infrastructure
Separate capital originating in the Gulf from projects financed across Africa.
This combined hub has two distinct lenses: Gulf participation in global investment platforms, and disclosed development funding for African data-centre assets. Investor domicile and project location remain separate facts; one does not establish the other.
Gulf capital can fund assets elsewhere
MGX's dated AI infrastructure partnership announcement describes an investment platform intended to support data centres and enabling energy infrastructure, chiefly in the United States. Its mobilisation ambitions are not a record of completed Gulf data-centre projects or drawn debt.
African development finance has identifiable stages
DFC's Africa Data Centres disclosure distinguishes an initial disbursement from the larger loan ceiling. The RMB-arranged growth funding announcement is a separate source. Preserve currency, stage and programme scope rather than treating both as evidence of the same site allocation.
Coverage gaps are part of the research agenda
Country and site allocation, power delivery, local-currency obligations and the route from programme funding to individual assets require further evidence. The register does not currently support an exhaustive country league table or a verified regional capital total.
Research priorities in this region
- Committed capital versus investment-platform targets
- Funding allocation from regional programme to named site
- Power continuity, currency and operating cash
