What it does

The rule in brief

Using its power under section 403 of the Department of Energy Organization Act, DOE proposed that FERC assert jurisdiction over the interconnection of large loads (over 20 MW) to the interstate transmission system, including hybrid facilities that co-locate load with generation. The proposal covers standard study deposits, readiness requirements, withdrawal penalties and faster studies for loads that agree to be curtailed. DOE asked FERC to take final action by 30 April 2026.
