Ratepayer Protection Pledge
Seven technology companies pledged to pay for the power and grid upgrades their data centres need.
Policy Proclamation of 4 March 2026; the pledge is voluntary.
What it does
The rule in brief
A presidential proclamation declared the Ratepayer Protection Pledge national policy. The companies that accepted it (seven on 4 March 2026) commit to build, bring or buy new generation for their data centres, pay for the power delivery upgrades that serve them, and negotiate separate rate structures with utilities and states that they pay whether or not they use the electricity.
