What it does

The rule in brief

SB 6 requires the Public Utility Commission of Texas to set interconnection standards for large load customers, with a 75 MW demand threshold unless the commission sets a lower one. Large loads must disclose substantially similar requests for service elsewhere in Texas, pay a study fee of at least $100,000, and, in an emergency, may be directed to deploy on-site backup generation or curtail. ERCOT is to develop a competitively procured demand reduction service for loads of at least 75 MW.
